Jose Mourinho rules out signing ‘amazing guy’ Zlatan Ibrahimovic to new club Tottenham

New Tottenham coach, Jose Mourinho has rejected the opportunity to sign 38 year old Zlatan Ibrahimovic even though they both have a great relationship.

Ibrahimovic is a free agent and could sign for any club in January after leaving the MLS, with Manchester United, AC Milan, Bologna and Tottenham reoortedly interested in his services.

Mourinho worked with Ibrahimovic during his time at Inter Milan in 2008 before signing the Swede to Manchester United in 2016, but says there will be no need to sign Zlatan as he has the best striker in the world in Harry Kane.

Speaking ahead of his first Champions League game in charge of Spurs against Olympiacos on Tuesday, Mourinho said he wouldn't sign the 38-year-old free agent.

"I have more than a connection [with Ibrahimovic]," he said. "He's an amazing player, amazing guy, but I would say no chance.

"We have the best striker in England. We have one of the top two or three strikers in the world.

"A striker of Zlatan's dimension…obviously in his late 30s but still a striker that can play at any club in the world.

"[But] it doesn't make sense to sign him when we have Harry Kane."
